Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra joins the team at Cinestaan Entertainment Private Limited
The founders of Cinestaan – Rohit Khattar and Anand Mahindra – have joined forces with renowned filmmaker Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra for a three-film deal. The first of the films will be a biopic on musician Buddy Guy, which is set to Premiere at 55th Chicago International Film Festival 2019.
Bombay Rose wins Silver Hugo in New Directors Competition at Chicago International Film Festival
A first for an animated feature from India, Gitanjali Rao’s directorial debut – ‘Bombay Rose’ – won the Silver Hugo in the New Directors category at the prestigious Chicago International Film Festival. The film also opened the Critics Week at Venice International Film Festival last August, where it was screened to critical acclaim.
It is a tale of a club dancer who tries to escape her child marriage and life on the streets of Mumbai. It was animated at Mumbai-based PaperBoat Animation Studios and has been delivered by a team of over 100 animators who painted a million frames to bring the story to life.
